Type: OAuthException We Need Your Help On December 22, 2018, deputies with the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Rubenville Lane in Alpine for a report of multiple individuals shot inside a residence at approximately 2:40 A.M.. Responding deputies secured the scene until Investigators arrived to process the scene and attempt to locate potential witnesses. Five individuals were transported for medical treatment for gunshot wounds. Three of the victim were later transported to UAB Hospital for additional medical treatment. Investigators have determined that there were a large number of individuals at the residence when the shooting occurred and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating witnesses or providing information. Message From The Sheriff Current times are not the best of times for the men and women who serve in the law enforcement field. The police have been vilified by the leadership in our nation’s capitol and the mainstream media. This has resulted, I believe, at least in part, to having thirteen law enforcement officers killed only two months into the current year. Last year during this time, no law enforcement officer had yet made the ultimate sacrifice serving their citizens. As a Sheriff, and as an American, this is a sickening statistic. I have spent decades serving with the men and women who wear the badge of the various agencies within Talladega County and I KNOW of their dedication to duty, their professionalism, and their unwavering desire to protect and serve our citizens. I understand the sacrifices that these proud men and women make daily, in an effort to safeguard our communities. All this is done with the knowledge that their job is one that can demand the ultimate sacrifice, one that can leave a mother without a son or daughter. A woman or man without a husband or wife. A child without a daddy or mommy. A community without a guardian. Today I ask of you one simple but important thing. The next time you see a deputy, a police officer or any law enforcement officer, take a moment to tell them thanks for what they do to keep us safe. A simple gesture that goes a long way toward making him/her feel appreciated in a time where the disgusting sentiments of some make them feel underappreciated and threatened. Imagine what it would be like to live in a society without law enforcement officers out there on the front lines protecting us and deterring criminal activity….it would be chaos! Law enforcement strives daily to take care of it’s citizens. I urge you to let them know you appreciate them!
